Cystitis, necessitating the washing out of his bladder and draiuiug of his urine four times a day ; as this operation was attended with severe pain, I prescribed an injection of 1 ?/0 Cucaine, which allowed the catheter to be passed without pain or rigor until the original disease became somewhat cured, and the patient now passes the catheter himself, the great dread he had of the process having been lost. In this case the relief was immediate.
